What is included in the package?
You can choose from one of our many Web Site Design or Virtual Hosting Packages.

What if I want more space or another login etc?
Check out our site add-ons or contact us if you can't find what you want

How do I check to see if a domain I want is available?
You can use the InterNIC Search Tool to find out who owns a domain. If there is no match then your domain is available.

How do I reserve my domain?
Extreme Web can do this for you or you can go to the InterNIC web site and do it yourself. InterNIC charges $100 for the first 2 years and $50 for each additional year thereafter.

Are adult oriented sites allowed on Extreme Web?
No. No Exceptions.

How long does it take to get setup with Virtual Hosting?
As soon as we receive the setup fee, we will allow you to begin creating and uploading your site. If you register a domain, it will take 3-4 days to get your domain setup with InterNIC and entered into the system.

What software should I use?
Any standard software can be used on Extreme Web servers. We recommend the following software:
FTP: CuteFTP or WS_FTP
Web: Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer
Authoring: HomeSite or Microsoft Frontpage

How do I upload my web site?
You can FTP to yourdomain.com and place the files in the html directory or you can connect via Microsoft FrontPage.

What is all of this stuff when I FTP in?

  • html: this is where all of the files for your web site go.
  • mail: all of your email is stored in this directory. You should not need to mess with this unless you are having trouble.
  • logs: This is the directory where all of the information about your visitors is stored. If you have logging enabled, you should periodically clean up this directory so that you do not exceed your disk space quota.

What do I call my main HTML file?
You need to call your main HTML file (the one you want to come up first), index.html
